I'm going to work where I used to work, with blind people.
Vocational training and independent living.
The position was created with me in mind but it was open to everyone. I interviewed yesterday (after 2 weeks of vigorous exercise and note prep) and wasn't happy with the results. My former boss said I seemed nervous. I was strangely over hyped - my energy level dropped to the floor on the way home to change and go back to my current job. I have to say, I looked GOOD in my dead uncle's tailored suit. He had good taste.
I thought I screwed it up. Too static. No flow. Everyone in the room knew me but I seemed to be bucking the wave.
Got a call this morning and had to step outside to take it. You got it.
They are working it out with HR on their offer (my current gets to make a counteroffer) 10% is the standard to draw someone from another part of the same organization. My former boss wants more. Yeah! Good!
I can't tell you how much I loved the old job. 8 of us we're laid off due to time of service. Well, I'm going back. The best $5 lunch you can find here and the lunchtime discussions are a whirling dervish of life experiences.... oh and the whole helping people change their lives thing too.

(34,119 posts)Congratulations to you! It is good hearing how happy you were there and that you get to go back. I do not know you at all but have known you here for since I joined in 2002 and just that bit makes me feel that these people you are going to be working with to help them along their path could not have a better advocate or teacher than you. The extra added bonus is that you are so happy about going back and got the job. Hooray for you!
Most of the smiling going on around here lately has been the sad kind when we hear about what else is happening. This is a true, good smile and thank you for sharing that with us. Congratulations to both you and your new clients.

(182,877 posts)It really doesn't feel like work. It's a pain in the ass yes "Hey ____ " (when someone needs something) is a constant there but actually watching people change their lives ....you can't buy that.
My wife and I discussed our strategy last night in terms of the raise. It's going to be a yes but I have to get the offer and counteroffer and then officially decide on Monday. They want me to start on the 27th. Two weeks. I have a budget meeting Monday from 9-12 WITH several levels of my supervisors so it's going to be very quick in the afternoon.
Thanks Muse.

(182,877 posts)He was never buried. Donated his body to a medical school. I got 4 very nicely tailored suits after he passed. I would have never thought wed wear the same size.

Boxers or maybe boxer briefs,
Let's have an underwear party...
This is a going commando party, it has nothing to do with surrender.
