It's a six way tie for A-Hole Of The Day!

LIMA — Peruvian police said on Tuesday they would deport five tourists and prosecute another after they allegedly damaged stonework and defecated among the ruins at Machu Picchu, an Incan citadel that is one of South America’s most renowned tourist attractions.

Authorities said the tourists, from Chile, Brazil, France and Argentina, snuck into the ruins and caused a rock to fall from a wall of the Temple of the Sun, damaging it. One of the foreigners allegedly defecated inside the Incan city.

An Argentine man will remain in the country to face charges for “destroying Peru’s cultural heritage” after he acknowledged a lead role in the vandalism.

Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage site visited by more than one million tourists a year. The mysterious, centuries-old stonework has long intrigued visitors, but a spike in tourism has raised concerns about damage to the delicate site.

It takes a lot of hard work to be an asshole of that magnitude.

And after all that work the aliens went through to build it.

Would have been nice to have left some diagrams carved in them or something, just in case we forgot how to move big rocks around.

How, i wonder, did these freaks from four different countries come together, at a remote and amazing historical site, and decide together, to not only vandalize, but to actually shit on it? What kind of psychology is at play here?

dollars which go to help this improvised country...to have tourists do this is despicable. I've been there, but I don't recommend it to everyone. The altitude is incredibly high and you'll get / can get altitude sickness (I did, and was out for the night/day afterwards, having chicken soup and we fled the next day out of the area before rebels shut down the airport/tried to (back in the early 80s)). The ruins are amazing. Just humongous and the bus ride out there from Cusco is something you'll never forget.

with as being an issue until it hit me. My other half worked there in Cusco at the Hotel (maybe a Marriott then) when their dad was manager of the hotel, so they didn't have any issues. But I sure did. I was so glad to get on the airplane and fly out of there, but hated cutting the side trip short. We did fly back to Lima, and do other things, but I hated having to cut the trip to Cusco short (the train trip, the bus trip are also something to remember when you're there in Cusco going to MP...you'll never forget it as long as you live).

vendors everywhere (entrance), even kids who raced the bus as we climbed up the road to MP...the kids racing the bus were amazing, they were cutting shortcuts straight down the side of the hill while the bus was zigzagging up the road. The road leading up to MP is kind of like a swish back and forth as you go up the steep hill. Basically, we flew into Cusco, took a train to the site (goes through jungle terrain), and then a bus up the hillside.

The only thing I really remember fondly is the barf bag I carried w/ me everywhere while in MP. I was sick as a dog and every time we found a corner, spot, I would barf into the barf bag and continue. The tour we were on would empty the tourists at MP and we would all explore the MP ruins. It is something else. Amazing that they could get such massive, massive rocks into place, cut them to shape, etc. Perhaps there are videos online you could watch/see. You'll enjoy it, in the safety of your home!

Take care!
