Or for that matter, any customers. Not surprised there are no salespeople (they’re rare as hens’ teeth these days in most department stores). But it’s odd.

Maybe that’s what pissed him off. Needed to buy some perfume for his wife for their anniversary. Couldn’t find anyone to wait on him.

I'm sure everyone cleared out the moment something was amiss. No retail job is worth dealing with that.

Oh, and the cosmetics department of a nicer store is the one place that will always have sales clerks. Generally they are employed by the various cosmetics companies, not the store itself.
