The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI love hugs, but I have a problem (and a solution)!
I love hugs, from both men and women.
When a man hugs me, they go more for the shoulder area, and give me a good strong hug with a pat on the back.
When a woman hugs me, they usually wrap their arms around my waist and put their head on my chest. Then they squeeze. This causes me to fart, 100% of the time.
I'm sure the women notice, but do not say anything out of politeness. Interestingly, the women I hug always seem to come back for another one, a few hours later. So, I must be doing something right, in spite of the farting.
I'm sure this must be one of those things that happens to every man, but it is just not talked about. It's probably just one of those unspoken rules that you don't talk about your farts when you get hugged. So don't be afraid to admit it, men. I think that deep down, women respect men who are not afraid to talk about it. The hugfart is a natural male bodily function. So don't be embarrassed anymore! It has to happen when your intestines get squeezed! Let 'er rip!
Don't let uptight "social norms" keep you from being who you are!

That's pretty good. I need to remember that one.

(1,639 posts)Standing a distance away, I spread out my arms wide and announce, "visual hug". Since I am not really a hugger, it is my way of saying that I care.
I also make certain to stand far enough away and limit the duration of the arm gesture so that it is not construed as a signal to rush over and actually hug me.
