(34,108 posts)She loved the part where he turned her over his knee and spanked her. I was maybe 10 and I realized at that time that my mother had no self esteem at all. I did not know those words however but I never took her seriously after that. She loved when women would get slapped and treated badly. It was so odd. My dad was brutal with us kids but he never touched my mother. Some women from the 30's and maybe 40's were not opposed to being treated badly apparently? I don't actually know what that is all about but I certainly never understood it.
John Wayne has been off my radar for a very long time. Makes me ill.
