Looking for some good movie recommendations for the weekend.

To watch on Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, etc. I need to take a little break from politics and I have absolutely no interest in the Super Bowl or watching President Dipshit gloat. I just need a little escapism and some light-hearted fun to balance my mood.

To give you an idea of the types of movies that I like, some of my favorites are "A Fish Called Wanda", "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", "Waking Ned Devine", "Hot Fuzz", the Monty Python films, screwball comedies from the 30's and 40's, silly romantic romps from the 50's and 60's, the Pink Panther movies, quirky British/Irish movies, whimsical foreign films, "Dumb and Dumber", "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure", "We're the Millers", "Office Space", any of the Naked Gun/Hot Shots/Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker-Proft movies, etc. I also like serious/art house movies as well, but I'm not up for that this weekend. I just want to be entertained and distracted from reality.

They don't have to be the best movies, as long as they hold one's attention and are pleasantly entertaining. Thanks in advance!

Bette Midler, Judge Reinhold, Danny DeVito.

I enjoy First Wives Club with Diane Keaton, Bette Midler, and Goldie Hawn.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels makes me laugh EVERY TIME! Ruprickt, have you been banging on your pots again?

Enjoy your movies. Good idea to get away from it all.

Zach Braff masterpiece

"Have fun in the abyss".

The soundtrack is so mellow you could fail a piss test. Really well done movie if you haven't seen it. 2004. One of my favorites.

Fun fact: That story was about one of my ex-boyfriend's mother (she was the Gina Davis character) and he sold the story to Penny Marshall. He was from a big baseball family and one of his brothers was semi-pro. Great movie!

It’s a British TV series about eccentric metal detectors (detectorists!) in the English countryside. Only 3 seasons, 6 episodes each season. It moves at a gentle pace, but is so clever and really well done.

40. "A Boy and His Dog"
Sat Feb 1, 2020, 09:03 PM
Feb 2020

Haven't seen it for decades but all I can remember is laughing by butt off - recommended to me by an offbeat friend

from IMDB:
Storyline

A post-apocalyptic tale based on a novella by Harlan Ellison. A boy communicates telepathically with his dog as they scavenge for food and sex, and they stumble into an underground society where the old society is preserved. The daughter of one of the leaders of the community seduces and lures him below, where the citizens have become unable to reproduce because of being underground so long. They use him for impregnation purposes, and then plan to be rid of him.

have no idea if any of the movie services have it.
