And give it some good whacks on the back to dislodge the obstruction. Also, no reason not to try the Heimlich Maneuver. If there's still no breathing, you can GENTLY do mouth-to-mouth and knock on the chest to stimulate the heart. The very first thing to do is examine the mouth to make sure there's nothing you can simply remove.
