It’s how the males advertise they’re ready to mate which attracts the females who are also ready.

So I wonder how the music sounds to elephants. Are there notes we don’t hear in our music?

Their ears may be tuned to a much lower audio "spectrum" than ours. I think 20 hz to 20,000 hz was the audiophile "sweet spot" for gear.
