But as soon as they see a bare spot, they look to me for more. I usually just shake the bowl a bit to even it out, and then we are good.

It's called the "finger wiggles" - I have one in particular that is guilty of demanding finger wiggles as soon as one iota of the bottom of the middle of the bowl is visible. After performing the proscribed action upon demand, leveling the bowl slightly, there is usually half a bowl or more of food still in it...

I have one cat who is such a good communicator that all she has to do is stare, project thoughts, and voila, she gets what she wants.

Definitely getting the message across.

Min would be tearing the bag open with their teeth.

One of our cats only liked fresh crunchies, so if we left the bag out of the pantry, he'd chew a hole through the new bag to have fresher ones than what was in the bowl. he'd also chew through a bread bag to eat the bread. My husband ate a lot of sandwiches with chew marks along the sides of the bread slices!

He also attacks the corner of the living room rug and goes into the bedroom to rattle the mirror I have propped against the wall, then start scratching at the furniture and dashing all around the house to let me know he wants me to let him out.

When he wants to be fed he quietly sits at my feet and stares at me.
