Remembering - Hilda, the plus size model

Hilda was a plus-size girl who was definitely not shy about her plump body. Not only was she one of the only curvy girls in the pin-up game at the time, but she was also a hilariously clumsy girl that was fun to look at. Hilda graced America's calendars from around the 1950s to the 1980s

More of Hilda - I find them cute and a celebration of life:

When I was growing up my a Dad and a Mom would talk about how big the women he ( we called him Uncle Harry ) would bring to their parties. The women were always gorgeous, dressed well, manicured nails and smelled good. There was one lady I liked ( Gigi) who always friendly and talked to me. I was upset with Uncle Harry when he brought a busty stripper instead of Gigi the next time my parents had a party.

She is all the more special in that Duane Bryers did not base her on a real life model, but instead fashioned her from his own imagination and fantasy.

'She's a creation out of my head,' the artist told online pin-up gallery ToilGirls in 2002.

'I had various models over the years, but some of my best Hilda paintings I've ever done were done without a model.'
