The good news is the generic for Lyrica is here and at long last I have it!

The bad news is the side effects. I'm drowsy a lot and dare not drive while taking it so I've devised a way of dosing around the tasks I'll need to drive for.

The good news is the rather nice, calming effect it has on me. Well being and, of course, relief from my post herpetic neuralgia and somewhat from my peripheral neuralgia (just in my hands, tho). But I sleep well and wake up feeling very good.

I gave up my evening wine 5 months ago due to liver issues (enzymes going up). So I don't have to give it up again for the drug (definitely a no no to drink while on it).

The bad news is my doc has to give me a once over before every prescription because it is a controlled substance, which I didn't know. I think he said it was 3rd level controlled drug. I think it is strange to think you could actually get high on it. It's really just is a mellower, but that's ok. Plus, relief from nerve pain is a real blessing and having it at a more affordable price is great.

YMMV of course, as with anything.

I used to take it for diabetic neuropathy, but the expense and frequent doctor visits drove me away from it. I do recall that it gave me a light buzz when I started taking it.

I could not afford Lyrica either. The pregabalin is definitely a lot cheaper but not THAT cheap.

The way I figure it about the cost is that if it makes my life bearable it's worth it. Also that morning pleasant feelings helps me with the stress of my being a caregiver for my husband so that is definitely a plus. I don't get angry over having to do so much for him all the time. It just kinda slides past me...

The plaquenil helps too, but the weed calms the tingles and burns and alleviates some of the numbness (or I don't care).

Edibles take so long to get into my system and I haven't had luck getting them to work effectively.
