Coyotes are active this morning yipping hunting. As boog and man go outside have pipe and coffee. We have been up since 03:00 and it has been non stop with our k-9 neighbors. The coyotes start communicating and that pisses my right paw off. He growls hackles go up as we sit in over watch.
Boog - Whining low growls licking my cheek were surrounded man and they know we have donuts man. By the way man pull your hood down so I can lick you.
My right paw has priorities protect the donuts. He has been looking at counter where they sit in a box. Wagging his tail looking at man come on man lets eat them.

(102,247 posts)every morning. We do have coyotes--usually a female and her young hanging out at the railroad trestle and underlying viaduct and wetlands nearby, but in much larger numbers a few miles west in the foothills and open space parks.
A few mornings ago, my dog became very antsy as we walked along the boulevard that abuts another open space area. She's usually cool as a cucumber, so I looked and saw we were being stalked by a single (likely male) coyote. Not wanting to trigger the animal to cross four lanes, though there was minimal traffic in the wee morning, we turned on our heels and ducked back into the neighborhoods.
People assume I always carry pepper spray to guard against the two-legged predators, but in reality, the four-legged wild types are more an issue, though I respect their presence.

(17,622 posts)...i hated hearing it as i knew a cat would soon disappear. When we moved from that place we found a cpl cat skeletons in our pasture. I gathered the bones and properly buried them at my new house. They were probably skunk bones.

(25,816 posts)I hear them usually every evening when they round up to hunt and
early morning when they split up and go home. I saw a really healthy
looking one yesterday. Two or three steps off the road and they become
invisible. When we get good winter rains, like this year, there are more
rabbits and the coyotes look good with thick shiny coats. Boy can they make
a racket. The cats hear them too.

(17,288 posts)they have howling parties and that wakes the neighborhood dogs. Occasionally I see a coyote or two slinking by even here in a neighborhood. But mostly we just hear them at night. When I lived in a home that was on the edge of town, we saw coyotes, Bob cats javelinas, tarantulas, Gila monsters regularly.
