The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWow. Even today black talent is being denied by Caucasian artists.
Okay, here's the story. Tik-Tok is its own social media world and a young 14 year old black girl from Atlanta by the name of Jalaiah Harmon created a dance to the Renegade song and posted the moves on Tik-Tok. The dance it referred to as the Renegade dance. Then came another young girl, who looks Caucasian and may have had a popular face on Tik-Tok and made it "famous." But she never gave Jalaiah any credit for it. Meanwhile, the Caucasian girl, Charli D'Amelio, has received jobs offers to perform the dance, while Jalaiah got nothing.
The good news is that Jalaiah has stepped up and is getting LOUD about this injustice, and even got recognition in a New York Times article. So to help us old folk keep up, here's a clip of the dance.

tuned in to radio programs that they wouldn't be allowed to attend in person. We have come a long way, Baby.

musicians recorded covers of Black original music and the covers became hits in the U.S. too. I'm almost 71 years old and this stuff is still going on so I hope there's a lot of younger people willing to join in the fight to make things right. Closing off humming "We Are Family"...
