One of the truly worst movies ever made..Worst of the worst.."Plan 9 From Outer Space"

Last edited Thu Feb 20, 2020, 08:29 PM - Edit history (4)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052077/

...directed by, Ed Wood...starring Bela Lugosi....Release date: July 22, 1959 (USA)

I showed it once to an after school Sci Fi club. It was so boring. And very very very....slow, and slower ...and boring................................................and more boring.............But you may like it?????

....Well known as a very lousy film, many say it is the worst....So you have been warned. Here is how not to make a movie. Bela was at the end of his career. Nothing more to say....You may want to show people this one for it is the ....slowest.....most boring ...and perhaps the most stupid movie I have ever seen.

Oh, and did I say it was ......boring?....I need to add this..got some time? Here is the entire movie...Yes, the entire movie....1hour 18minutes...found at YouTube..(takes a moment to appear)

..Plan 9 from Outer Space, ...also called ...Grave Robbers from Outer Space..1hour, 18min

The Hip Pocket Theater presents "Hubcaps Aflame Over Hollywood" which was actually the story of Ed Wood, using 'plan 9' as the framework.

This group is so much fun anyway, live theater in the outdoors, inventive costumes, original scripts, hysterical props and more. If you are ever in Fort Worth in the summer give them a try

This play was so much fun. The title is based on the method Wood used to get the flying saucer effect. True to form, the troupe was crazily creative in all aspects.

It's been done in at least two versions by the "Mystery Science Theater 3000" guys. It is at least hilariously bad, as opposed to the simply bad that are so many movies...and "Can you prove that it didn't happen?"
And remember, my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future.

My husband and I like laughing at really bad movies and have since college in the 1970's. We taught the kids to crack on the stupid in movies from early on--shower curtains as walls?? Constant switching from daylight to dark?? How about the strings on that flying object!!???

And for sheer silliness, try Pia Zadora's first movie, "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"!

A couple of drinks or a couple of tokes and it is one of the funniest movies you will ever see.

My favorite scene was when someone goes from the main compartment of the space ship to the front cockpit section by pushing aside what is obviously a cheap shower curtain.

Plan 9 was put together from edits to other movies with enough new scenes to loosely stitch the out takes together.

It's not as famous as Plan 9, but it should be. The monster's costume was a gorilla suit bottom and a diver's helmet top. (I vaguely remember reading somewhere that that was because they couldn't afford a full gorilla suit.) I think it was filmed in four days. It really is worth seeing.

I agree, Plan 9 was boring. Robot Monster, on the other hand, was so bad that it was almost good.

An alien that looks like a gorilla with a helmet has almost completely wiped out the human species from the face of Earth. As he hunts down the final six survivors, he ends up falling in love with the young woman of the group.

Plan 9 is fantastic, if you love Z grade movies. I saw a theatre production of it a few years ago. I laughed so hard I wished I'd worn a maxi pad, if not a Depend. (Ten pound babies play havoc on your bladder.)

Cats was awful. Breaking Dawn was horrid. I've never made it past twenty minutes of The Notebook without passing out and loudly snoring. Plan 9, Santa Claus vs the Martians, etc are all so campy they're hysterical.

knowing it was one of the worst movies ever made. We bought some beer and watched it for laughs. Watched the Ed Wood movie when it came out, too.

When I was a teenager, I'd stay up all night on Fridays and watch monster movies on CBS in Cleveland. The movies were first hosted by Ghoulardi, (claim to fame: my Mom went to school with him) and later by Hoolihan and Big Chuck. Their short videos between the movies were super popular. Everyone liked the Kielbasi Kid. You can see some of the silliness if you search You Tube.

Thanks for jarring loose some memories

Worst movie I've ever seen. Gore Vidal rightfully disowned this sick attempt at bringing his novel to the screen.

The only movie I've ever been to where people coming out of the prior showing, were begging, pleading with those of us waiting to go in, to get our money back. Wish I'd taken that advice, rather than seeing it.
