I am very conservative with x-rays. I pushed back on the annual bitewings long ago because I don't trust x-rays. Not happy when I get picked out of a line at TSA because we all know it's not a question of the exposure from one x-ray. It's the fact that we get them from several sources.
So, yesterday I received a panoramic from the dentist, because I was due -- every five years. I've had only one before with no problems. I didn't think it was a bad idea to stay on schedule with another because I had dental work done a few years back and I thought it was a good idea to make sure everything was alright. I got an A+ exam, but when I got home I felt the beginnings of a headache. Headaches are not common for me, but if I feel one coming on a good nap is generally the remedy. Not this time.
I've looked on the net and others have experienced them. I wondered if anyone on DU had any experience, they can share how long it takes to go away?

(26,019 posts)Those x-rays require some jaw contortions that may translate into a headache.

(46,774 posts)But even the x-rays showed my jaw was fine. The big surprise was that my sinuses' were clear. New development. I usually have a stuffy nose, but since going through a hellaciously bad cold in January I have been religious about wearing face masks when I do garden work that stirs up leaves and/or dirt. It is having a positive impact.
As for the headache, I slept for a second day and feel better.
