Well, this is a bit of a proud moment for Mr. L ...

Just found out about the UNESCO Heritage designation of the FLW-designed Hollyhock House in LA.

Why? Well, I'm a Judson. Not my last name, but I'm a descendant of the founders, and my grandfather (also a Stained Glass artist of some renown) started his career at the family studio. I think these were done about a decade before he started there, however.

Pretty cool stuff ...

I wanted to be an architect at one point, but got a little sidetracked. I still love his stuff.

It's such an interesting house. An ode to California.

cool. I grew up in a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired house (designed by a student at Taliesin West) so the boxy view and the wood and concrete of that entry way is very familiar. we had some huge impractical windows but none were like that, just plain.

as far as Artists went.

Mom's a nurse (retired) and I work with computers

Well, a few of his grandkids and great-grandkids have tried their hand at music, so I guess not entirely non-artistic
