Out on the town here in Albuquerque,The Q, Duke City, The Big I, The 505 and probably a

lot more nicknames I don't know.

Yesterday I got my son to go out with me by offering to treat him to a late lunch at the venue of his choice. The day was fairly uneventful except for the lunch choice of iHOP. My experience with this spot has always involved long waits, mediocre service and ho-hum food but there we were.

We finally received our drink order then perused the menu and waited again. I began to think about
what a good exercise in patience and anger management it was to eat there. Son decided on having
a bacon burger and after I saw that the extra charge for a "double" was $1.50 he decided on that.
After more waiting a young waitress approached our table (a waiter was serving us) and said that
there would be a $4.00 charge for the double. Imagine, extortion here in tRUMP's America! I politely
pointed out to her the menu price that I had seen. (Our menus had been whisked away before this.)
And I began to get anxious as I saw her in the kitchen area looking through a menu herself.

Well, the rest of the meal went without incident. We ate with relish and it was filling. Son decided
we shouldn't leave a tip and I agreed. We received no apology and next time maybe we'll go to my
choice, Taco Cabana, but it sure won't be iHOP!

May all your outings be anxiety-free!

but my favorite ABQ eatery was Mac's Steak in the Rough. Loved their taquitos, with guacamole! Last had some about 14 years ago when I went back for a class reunion.

Go straight to Barela Coffee House for breakfast, then up the block to Modela's Mexican foods aka "The Mo" for a dozen tamales to go. I'd feast on those for the rest of the trip.

If I needed it, there is a GREAT old-school shoe shine place on Gold downtown that is well worth the quick detour.

My work territory changed and I don't get back much. I miss it.
