The pig was quite tasty. Not as tender as I would have hoped, but flavor was good. Arkansas Granny Mar 2020 #3

Her voice is one for the ages. How funny, I was listening to this song by her just yesterday.

I shared with a few of the bachelors at work and they enjoyed it as well.

I am jealous. Did you end up lobbing the apples and sweet potatoes in there?

on top. I think the sweet potatoes and apples in the dutch oven will be my next try. A friend suggested using a pressure cooker, but I don't have one. Might have to look into that.

Fewer gadgets in the kitchen!

I don't have one, but if I wanted to do pressure cooking, I'd get one of those and give away my crockpot. Lots of people in the Cooking & Baking sections swear by them.

most of the time I cook for myself. I only make big meals at work and share what I make. I like cooking for others.

Maybe I should put a tip jar on the table and take donations towards a cooker.

I like the crockpot I have - it has three sizes of pot, 2, 4, and 6 quarts, so I can cook just enough for the two of us or a big batch that I can split up and freeze in small portions. Next week I'm going to cooked a Boston Butt roast to make pulled pork - that needs the big pot.

Plus I have a prettier one that I can carry to family gatherings to keep stuff hot.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
