(25,406 posts)I picked up a couple of cans of Armour's Vienna sausage, but I also bought one can of some sort of meat product. Think "generic Spam".
We'll eat it only if it's the last thing left in the house, otherwise, we pass it on to my lady's brother, he'll eat anything.

(68 posts)Why do I have so, so, so much Amy's Carrot and Ginger soup in my cupboard?
Last week, the day before invasive surgery, my mother asked if I liked ginger whilst at the grocery store... A day later there would no paper and no canned goods at selfsame store.
I have since recovered and still have so, so, so much Amy's Carrot and Ginger soup and, thankfully, have enough toilet paper.

(19,438 posts)it makes a face and goes "Yuck!" It was presented to me with great fanfare. I've tried, I've really tried, to have a sip now and then, but it's just a taste I've been unable to acquire.
Don't tell anyone.

Oh yeah - There's some seafood soup base too (was gonna make NE Clam Chowder once upon a time) and a many-year-old cann of yams purported to be for a Thanksgiving long ago)
then there's:
Ghost pepper infused honey

(10,104 posts)Copes brand? Thats a Pennsylvania Dutch staple. Look up recipes for it. Usually soaked in hot water and then cooked a while with milk and butter. Yummy.
Runningdawg
(4,664 posts)I got it from both sides. Maternal grandmother is Dutch.

Well, it's not strange if you're from Pakistan, India or Sri Lanka, but I'm going on the assumption that most people reading this are not.

(60,186 posts)Good as a quick filling meal when mixed with hot rice, or else when a spoonful of it is put over thick eggplant slices covered with a thin layer of olive oil, and then baked for (however long--ask my wife, she's the master chef around here). But you have to like spicy stuff. If not, just take it out when you need to jumpstart a corpse or something.

(29,406 posts)...were always hungry. One evening meal, time was running short and the students hadnt had time to eat their dessert. One of the seniors asked the freshman if they would like to take the dessert back to the dorms and eat it in their rooms. They all replied, Yes, sir!
The catch was they had to put it in their socks to transport it. It was Boston cream pie. My husband put it in his socks and proceeded to eat it once he got to his room.
