(11,005 posts)Yippee! Now I can cross this off my bucket list. And now I can go to bed. I'll look at the pictures in the morning.
I couldn't wait. I went back and looked at the pictures. The baby bunny and the baby duck.

(32,983 posts)LOL. He is a strong guy!
I love the kitty with the pink collar.
I like the bear going in the bathroom door, too. And he is not one of those Charmin bears. Those things are annoying.
Thanks, SCE!

(1,928 posts)....but then said to myself "Oh, it's a great white whale, like in Moby Dick", so you see, I am kind of literate too.

(3,017 posts)Melville devoted a portion of "Moby-Dick" to the subject of whale genitalia, and human uses thereof.
I have a dirty mind, too!
RussellCattle
(1,928 posts)...portion of the novel, but I read it fifty years ago in an "19th Century American Literature" course in college. I have a copy and have planned on rereading it, maybe now that I'm stuck at home hiding from a virus would be a good time.

(2,637 posts)There is a famous restaurant called Ivar's Salmon House and stretching across the ceiling in the dining room is a whale penis. I would say it is a good 10 feet long perhaps more or less. It is indeed magnificent and most people do not know what it is. Perhaps a piece of a native fishing boat? A longhouse timber? Nope, it is a whale penis!
One time when I went there with my best friend for dinner, I pointed it out to him and told him what it was. He did not believe me, but he has a doctorate so he is just way smarter than me. However when I asked him what he thought it was then if not a penis and all he could say was it most certainly was *not* a whale penis, dammit!
Errrrrm yes it is.
If you go to Seattle on vacation while we are known as "The Rainy City," if you come here between that last week of July and the 1rst 2 weeks of August you are almost guaranteed sunshine. Ivars is right on the water on Lake Union where you can sit on their veranda and enjoy the breeze.
How am I able to say you are guaranteed sunshine? Well, you see my birthday is in the last week of July. I will be 69 on my next birthday. Statistically, it has rained exactly twice in my life in Seattle on that day. As a native Seattleite, this is indeed phenomenal.
Hope this amuses y'all!

(14,492 posts)"Whale-watchers are treated to sightings of a rare albino humpback as it swims off the east coast of Australia on Monday. Originally thought to be the legendary Migaloo on his seasonal migration to Antarctica, experts now believe it is another whale, Son of Migaloo. Migaloo became famous as the only known albino whale in the world, until 2011 when a white calf was sighted in the same region."
