Not much of a Beatles type to begin with, mind, but the 'White Album' is a waste of petro-chemicals....

I hesitate to say that it's appeal may have had much to do with drug-inducement.

The whole effort struck me as a sort of 'rough draft', even at the time. As if people had grown so confident in their popularity they no longer felt their creative efforts needed much polishing, and could just be set down 'as is' without taking the pause and going over things again to see what might be improved.
