Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAnybody here a birder? Today, on my dying tree in front of my house, I heard a very loud
woodpecker who sounded kinda angry or at least determined. The jackhammer sound lasted only a few minutes, very intense then silent then very intense again. The after a little bit, he/she was gone.
Was it typically a he or a she? Do both sexes drill loudly or just one?
Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge!

(29,537 posts)Woodpeckers are quite fond of them. When one is consumed , a woodpecker hammers on the gutter near the feeder until I put out another cake. Best way to get my attention.
