So far, have watched Dr. No & From Russia with Love.
I'd seen Dr. No ages ago, I think while I was still in High school. I didn't remember most of it, except that scene of Ursala Andress walking out of the water.
I thoroughly enjoyed "From Russia with Love" which I had never seen, and is a vastly superior movie, IMHO. Although the casual misogyny in both is pretty horrifying.
Next up is "Goldfinger" which I have seen, although again it's been a pretty long time. But I remember enjoying it a lot, especially Oddjob!!

(5,304 posts)Although my life has been barely impacted by the virus so far, I get severe withdrawal symptoms due to the lack of live sporting events. I should be watching the NBA playoffs right now. The old NFL games help to take the edge off my withdrawal seizures. It's good to be able to appreciate just how much the NFL has change over the years. I miss the old days that'll never be back.

(6,907 posts)We are in a weird time. My wife always worked from home office, now I am zooming work from home and the two teenagers are zooming school, the last few days they only come out of their rooms for food. I see them less the last couple of days than back in the regular times, lol.

(27,093 posts)but I will say that there is a lot of implied sex in "Russia".
Personally, the sex (which does not happen on camera, but is really blatant) doesn't offend me because I'm anti-sex (I'm not, I feel I am sex-positive), but it certainly is performed in very irresponsible ways that would certainly raise consent issues in today's world (as well as just unsafe behavior in general, going to bed with total strangers, etc.).
Just thought if you have minors, it seems considerate to provide the warning.

(4,929 posts)I have the entire collection from the start, Dr. No to the latest released, Spectre on BlueRay..and I have a handful of duplicates on DVD.
Don't forget to watch Never Say Never Again, which came out the same year as Octopussy (1983) but was not a Broccoli production. Its basically a remake of Thunderball but more true to the novel....Oh, and one of my Nieces has an uncanny resemblance to Fatima Blush (Barbara Carrera)
Coventina
(27,093 posts)It was on HBO (almost constantly) the summer between my sophomore and junior year of high school.
I was an au pair for my uncle during an ugly divorce, and he had CABLE TV with HBO!!!
(my parents didn't even have a color tv at the time).
I saw that movie so many times I practically had the dialogue memorized. And it was SUCH an 80s movie with the big hair and fashions.
It makes me nostalgic just thinking about it.
I'll be sure to catch "Never," thanks for the tip!!

(4,929 posts)It stars Maud Adams, the ONLY woman to play a Bond girl twice! She was in Man with the Golden Gun in 1974.

(6,423 posts)Thunderball still my favorite.
I recommend House and West Wing, many shows each.

(3,490 posts)some great scenes though, especially the fight on, and I do mean on the plane. Those two hanging on for dear life while trying to vanquish the other was great.
IMHO, skip A View to a Kill. Despite the interesting role played by Grace Jones, that movie is horrid.

(4,929 posts)and Patrick Mcnee! Also had the only theme song to reach #1 on the charts.
Bond movies are there for pure entertainment and eye-candy. Most of the Bond girls were lacking in acting ability...and it seemed to get worse as the series went on, at least until Roger Moore left.
