I was 12 and working as a Paperboy. I was moved, and some of the older guys actually had tears.

in November 1970 (around Thanksgiving - which they didn't celebrate there - they were getting ready for "Father Christmas" ), my parents took us kids to London and I remember the much of the city "in mourning". The little hotel that we were in had a radio built into the headboard and I would turn it on and listen to the music in the evenings and heard the commentary on "the Beatles breaking up".

My next door neighbor at the time, was a HUGE Beatles fan and I remember him showing me his collection. He would blast it day and night and since we were in a "twin" house and my bedroom adjoined his, I had the (unfortunate) experience of having to hear it continually through the walls whenever I was in my bedroom.

I did grow to like "Revolution 9" from the through-the-wall repetitive playings.
