in the meantime

I went out to drive over to my daughter's to sit in her drive for 2 hours so there is an adult near the kids, who thank God are old enough to stay on their own for short periods. My car battery is dead. I have never had to jump it. My husband had to jump it once, but I didn't watch him. It is a Prius, and I think it is the 12 v battery. I drove it the other night and the hybrid battery was charging fine.

After the challenges of getting the hood up (never do it enough to remember from time to time) and figuring out how to get the fuse box lid off, trying the quick charge, which didn't work and then setting up the slow charge, I have called the garage that is AAA, and hoping they will call me back. Sigh

In the meantime, one of my husband's good friends was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, and the hospital sent him home on hospice. Not much to be upbeat about today.

Are you a member of AAA? If so, they will send someone to you, no charge. SaveOurDemocracy Apr 2020 #1

Of course you will have to pay for the battery if you require a new one.

But replacing the Prius 12 volt isn't pop out pop in, and they'll probably have to tow the car to the garage to replace it.

I knew where the chargers were, how to attach them. Had long extension cords to reach the car.

My husband's friend is surrounded by loving family and friends. He is contrary enough to surprise the doctors.

but didn't leave the charger on long enough that it kept running. I will let it charge longer tomorrow, hope it'll run long enough to get to a shop. If not, I'll call AAA to tow it and go from there.

I have messages in to a couple of places. Next worry is wondering if they can get a battery that will fit. Takes an AGM type battery.
