Need help. Trying to find a former neighbor, retired naval officer (Seabees) and his family.

He has a very common name.

He retired many years ago and went to work with a consulting firm in D.C. as a civil engineer. His wife, also very common name, a math teacher.

We were neighbors and got along fine, even tho I worked for very liberal (and at one time anti-war) organizations. My kids and his kids went to school together.

It would be nice to touch base after all these years. Any ideas on how to research him (I think he retired to Florida, but not sure)?

Thanks for any help offered!

and give the addressee details of the guys last duty station, name, rank, last home address, etc., these local veteran chapters would probably be glad to help.

Been doing it for five years to try to find family trees on genetic matches who don't get back to me. I've gotten pretty good at figuring things out.

You probably know more about his family than I usually do from a DNA match. Obituaries are often wonderful sources of information.

They will likely have a current address, which may be an engineering firm and/or list him as practicing or retired.

our office got a letter from a guy looking for a military guy who had been his best man 40 years ago, requesting an address.....of course, we could not give him the address so I wrote to the guy in question, saying, hey, this guy claims he was your best man.....here is HIS contact information

The personnel office at a Navy base might help you.

a shipmate's name turned up on the rolls of a veterans' cemetery. I had pictures of us on the ship and had written a page of some memories, especially that he would write a letter to his wife every evening while the rest were playing cards or whatever. I wrote to the cemetery and they verified that they would forward my name/address and my stuff to the family, up to them to make contact. They/family didn't. But I got relief.
