dear car enthusiasts- i want a jeep gladiator.

right now i am driving a ford transit connect. the size is ok, drives fine, runs fine, but there is a lot i dont like about it. i could just trade it in for a new one, and get the tech i really need, but it is still a lot of plastic. i ended up w the 'soccer mom' version of it.
i see there is a ram version of this thing. that's a maybe.

when i bought it, tho, i had a lovely old jeep as a back up for the occasional big haul. '85 grand wagoneer. midnight blue woody, in lovely shape.
then i lent it to the bf. wasnt his fault, but it led to the demise of the old girl.

i did look at jeeps when i bought, as i have done a couple other times i was in the market. but they all seem to have the same stupid plastic tumors all over that are only there to lower the mpg until they fall apart, and become a drag on your mpg.

but every time i see wrangler on the road i think- that. i want that jeep.
so, i see the gladiator, and it makes my little heart go pitter patter.
dont need the rubicon. just a stripped down body, w a hig tech brain.

thoughts?

i was hopeful when the said the were bring back the wagoneer, but cr shredded it.
it's ugly anyway.

imho, it aint a jeep w/o that grill. and i dont mean the art nouveau version they put on their minivans.

as an aside, i have a big collection of the old fisher price little people toys. a lot of those vehicles are jeeps. except the vw minibus.
i just sorted through a bunch of my doubles, and passed a shoebox full of little jeeps on to the neighbor kids. the vintage ones that i kept are a perpetual source of smiles.

But I drive an original VW van daily. And my Jeep watermark is the old WW2 Korean war era. I learned to drive in one on my fathers Ranch way back when.

If I had the coin & my health was better I'd re-do a original. I would be lost in a newer vehicle I prefer old school-and wing windows!.

Back to your rig-well reviewed and a practical style. My wife would love it I'm certain.....If I could I'd get it for her. But I'm keeping my Bus.

i need the tech. i am 65 and was never a great driver. and it's a big vehicle.
my ford only has the backup cameras. i love them, but it sorta pisses me off that ford sells that stuff cafeteria style, instead of only selling the safest vehicle possible, standard.
i realize this is one reason a subie is more expensive, but shit. it is a cheap thing to start w. i dont think it would have cost them $5 to at least have full sensors.

The dealers need to get rid of inventory.

I read they expect to get millions of lease returns now and in months to come, and they need to move new car sales to make parking spots for a crush of used cars (lease returns). Good luck.

that were lease returns. this is likely the way i will go. new enough, w/o that depreciation that happens the minute you drive off the lot.
next time i go out, imma take a drive over to the jeep place and sneak around and kick some tires.

not in a hurry, gonna wait on a great deal.

This is part one of a 2020 Jeep Gladiator rebuild series (there are 18 vids on this all about 20 minutes long) by a couple of country kids that call themselves the "Goonzquad"
They by salvaged cars from Copart Recycling and rebuild and upgrade them.
A bit technical but very informative. If one want to know what goes into a particular car these guys are really good.
