If so, I was wondering what the experience was like.
I've been in Florida twice as long as I had planned, and booked a flight for mid-May back to California (with a change at DFW). Heard that flights were almost empty, as were the terminals.

(115,683 posts)I live under one of the approach paths to a major airport and was used to seeing and hearing airplanes; I could even identify the aircraft type without looking up. There have been a few (I think I heard a C-130 early this morning) but not many at all, even between 7:00 and 9:00 am when it used to be really busy. Maybe I'll start counting them this afternoon, see what turns up between 4:00 and 7:00.

(5,170 posts)the terminals are empty, all airlines have canceled many routes and cut back severely on other routes. A stipulation on the airline bailout was that the airlines would maintain the routes, cutting the frequency was the outcome. The canceled routes were primarily international destinations.
My friend travels weekly and so far the numbers are very low, just a minimal percentage of capacity. There are no wait lines at the ticket counter or security. The service onboard is minimal and social distancing is practiced in the seating arrangements.
My last trip was mid-March and it freaked me out. The flight was supposed to be half empty but another international flight had canceled, and all those passengers were rebooked to the international flight I was on. Covid19 was starting up the death numbers, and on that flight, there were many sick people trying to get back to the states. I have not been on a flight since.
