I wonder if he ever got it under control. That's why the horse was acting up in the background - the cow had too much leverage to be led off. The second rider should have tried to get a rope around its neck to solve this problem!

the original roper could ride up and shake his loop loose and get her by the back feet. and if he is good, flip her down and get her tied. I do like to watch skilled cowboys and have been blessed to know and work with a number of them.

Though one gelding I bred became a really good heeler. He was particularly good with big steers since he was 15'3" and very stout. His little brother is now a hunter and three day eventer at 16'3" - he's also very stout with every bit being muscle!

here's a big one that had to be roped the other day. I had to drag him in with the Toyota, too big for the three horses on hand and still have help on foot to shut the gate. (broke a steel cable at that!)

Even Red would have had trouble with that one. Maybe Red's younger brother could have helped because of his size, but he just doesn't have the disposition for a roping horse.
