It would be a draw on some future job.
He was my first boss when I was a cub bricklayer. He was like an overweight
version of Rhett Butler. He had the gift of gab, and even though a bit heavy,
he could charm the women.
He spent a lot of time across the line in Nogales. He loved Leticia, a pretty
young "sex worker" in Canal Street, home to twenty or more houses of ill-repute.
He's gone now, like Bud LaRose and Bud Sanford and Jim Allard and many more,
all guys I used to work with. I learned more than bricklaying from those guys,
none educated, but all smart in their way. I dropped out of an honors English
program at the U of Az to join this bunch.
I don't regret it.
