Anybody had this happen..?

I was trying to watch the usual livestream that I normally watch but something quite different happened instead.

The page opened and a promo pops up which I dismiss, so far normal. When I use the mouse to start the player another popup arrives telling me that Firefox wants me to update the player. I read the banner, it looks okay so I select update after which a smaller popup arrives directing me to accept something that looks hinky so I back out of the page which brings me to the site I wanted to go to in the first place. I try to open the player and this time I get some full screen porn vid. I turned off the browser, went offline and did a full cleanup and scan. I think it's associated with the livestream site.

Does anyone have a good news live stream and link that doesn't make you turn off your ad blocker?

Did you install any software of browser plug-ins? You should make sure you remove them.

Or YouTube. But credible websites shouldn't be prompting you for plug-ins on modern browsers. MSNBC used to, but I think the have finally stopped. Generally, if you get a request to install a plug-in to a major browser on an updated computer, you should probably back away. Even if the website is credible, an advertisement might be malicious.

Malwarebytes, Avast anti , Privatefirewall, CCCleaner, and ADBlocker Plus. All free versions and have been effective for me for years. My 2 cents if you havent covered your bases.

You got full screen porn and turned off the browser? That was when you should have hit CTRL+D, then emptied your cache and THEN closed the browser, the rebooted the whole computer and continued from there.

See? You have a link to some porn when you get done that way.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question. I just couldn't get past the porn part, lol. I never can. Never accept a file from me. I cannot guarantee its cleanliness. It will be flawed, like me, lol.
