Thank you....getting our feeders out in a few days......love these photos. So jealous we only get about 3 birds total....so funny, we name our hummers. Last year we had gazer....he/she would drink and then just kinda gaze at things before drinking again. Bomber would wait for another hummer to come to the feeder then attack it, then he/she would drink. #3’s name was bobber, he/she would come to the feeder sit and just keep bobbing up and down drinking. Love these birds.......

I confess there is a certain beauty in tanks that non-tankers might never understand.

For me, it's the fact that, in a tank's design, form always follows function. Always. There's a kind of beauty in that.

and what's a nice Army guy like you doing showing us all these Marine Corps hummers? (How do we know? I never saw an Army hummer with a deepwater fording kit on it, and it's standard on Marine hummers.)

One each for the CO and the XO. There may have been a third one for headquarters platoon, but I can't remember.

An armored company has fourteen tanks. Three platoons of four tanks each, and the two headquarters tanks (The CO and the XO again.) Tanks, I know...

And for a while, I was the only guy who could drive it.

I kept getting tagged for taking the deuce-and-a-half back to the motor pool, or out to fetch something with it, because I had '2 1/2 ton' on my military driver's license. After a while, I thought: "Does nobody have a license for this but me?"

Nobody else would admit it they were licensed, too; tankers are bastards...

We don’t have crows here. But we do have two kinds of vultures and giant grackles that act like crows.
