So I downloaded X-Plane......

took 4 days to get the files and the Eastern 1/2 of the US. I've been enjoying the flying experience, very similar to to MS X. I have 15 hours in the pilot seat from 10 years ago - real flying.

Decided my internet bandwidth can't handle the streaming requirements for MS 2020. So I went with X-Plane. I have a lot to relearn, but this is an awesome flight simulator. $60.00. Not a bad price considering the number of hours I have to waste.

Any other flight simulator enthusiasts out there?

First flight - Cessna 172- anology guages. 1B0 (Dexter, ME Muni) -> B21 (Carabasett Valley)....on to Mt Washington and eventual landing at Mt. Washington Valley Regional Airport. About 2 hours. No structural damage.

Lots to learn, plenty of time to figure it out.

What king of hardware do you use to fly the thing, a joystick or like a steering wheel?

I recongiured my joystick to do all those functions (12 buttons). I may eventually get the Yoke/rudder pedals to give a better flight experience.

I used to play flight sims when I was younger. After switching to Mac many years ago, I lost interest. Now with VR as a viable option, I consider building a PC for Xplane and perhaps DCS. Flying in VR must be amazing

It would be more natural, for sure.

But don't think I want to immerse to that level. 3D in normal mode is plenty real for me.
