maybe 40 years, Little Richard tried to cash a check in a local Philadelphia bank, a check signed "Little Richard," and the bank wouldn't cash it. The cashier must have been very old. All of Little Richard's formal ID was in his "real" name, Richard Penniman, but his business checking account was in the name Little Richard. He finally found a fan working in the bank who vouched for him, and he got his check cashed.
