One of the downsides of streaming: can't skip ads like on DVR.
That kid making an intentional mess needs a major beatdown.
No, not really. I don't actually endorse violence against children.
But it sure doesn't make me want to buy a Roomba.
Anybody else have a current ad that's driving them crazy?

If you can afford it, of course.

(29,442 posts)I actually wasn't referring to DU ads, but to ads on streaming services.
I'm watching a lot of Animal Planet on their streaming channel and this annoying Roomba ad is really wearing on me!

(156,297 posts)I'm sorry--I misunderstood!
I assumed that because you don't have a star, that that was the problem!
Coventina
(29,442 posts)Completely understandable.
I used to be a star member. I was for years.
Then, I decided, as much as I love DU, I felt my money was better spent supporting candidates.
Every time I'm tempted to buy a star, I give our wonderful Dem candidates money instead.
It's a little reminder to myself to donate.

Collimator
(2,102 posts)stopped getting daily reports on where the starving children are.
(And I don't mean to make light of that reality.) I read a book as a kid and it touched on the idea that moms get regular updates so that they can mention the children in "fill-in-the-blank" who would appreciate the sandwich crusts, spinach or whatever it is that their children would be turning up their noses over.
I know that I sound like a child-hating meany, (I'm really only that second thing), but commercials nowadays seem to regularly show parents capitulating to their children's food-refusal dramas and feeding them whatever crap said commercial is trying to sell.
A parent I knew made a good point about "choosing your battles", and I agree that everyone--including kids--should have some rights to refuse some foods that they find intolerable, but no kid will willingly starve themselves to death if they have to eat salmon instead of pizza or whatever.
Sorry for the rant. I am very open-minded and progressive about a lot of things, but kind of old-fashioned about others.
