CBS announces Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

It means even more for us to announce to be able to announce this show right now at a time when so much of the planet is hurting…And we are going to get to work on a classic Star Trek show that deals with optimism and the future.

Anson Mount Will star as Captain Christopher Pike aboard the Enterprise a decade before Kirk.

that isn't a prequel??!

Something that also isn't Picard?

Just a new story. No Spock's sister, no old Picard, just a new story set in a new time.

Picard is a downer. It is not my Federation. The whole Michael Burnam character has been a disaster for the Star Trek mythos.

I am not sue where the Star Trek universe ended up at the end of Deep Space 9 (never made it to the end). Nemesis wasn't the greatest ending for the Enterprise crew.

Anson Mount's Pike absolutely oozes Starfleet captain on the screen. He's literally straight from central casting.

This looks great!

And Rebecca Romjin joining him guarantees we will be renewing our CBS AllAccess.

We binged both Discovery and Picard in the last month and enjoyed them both but yeah, Pike is the man.

FWIW, before these shows, Enterprise with Captain Archer was our favorite.

I am very much hoping, though, that, like mentioned above, the success of the the new shows will inspire them to do future shows set in the farther future. I loved TNG because it continued on from TOS and while I thoroughly enjoy the current prequels and near future of Picard, I want to see what happens farther out..
