Just ran my first 10k (in training)

Holy sh*tballs! Just ran my first #10K !

Training for the Disney Food & Wine 10k in November. Only planned on a 5 mile run tonight w/my daughter, who’s training for the Dopey Challenge next Jan (5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon). Our route took us 6.2 miles exactly. 1:35:00. Not bad for a 53 year-old couch potato (until two weeks ago)

be careful and you have plenty of time. Don't over do it and get hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 62 and an avid biker. I had to give up running about 4 years ago because of hip arthritis. My most serious challenge was myself and my tendency to over do it.

In the course of my running which spanned about 30 years I had several fabulous races that I still look back on with pleasure. Good Luck!

We had a slowdown about 1/3 thru. An issue with her shoes

She’s running 3 days a week

I’m gonna do 2.

Hooray for you!

Endurance is built by time spent running though, not the distance you run. For instance, plan on running an hour--go 30 minutes out, and 30 minutes back. Try to gradually increase the time. When your race comes, only running 6.2 miles will feel like a breeze.

I didn't know anyone was still having races, given our current situation. Pretty crowded conditions.

Do well!

(Gawd I miss the days when I was skinny and fast.......)

"What is the Army standard for a 12 mile ruck march?
At this point, you must complete a 12-mile tactical foot march in three hours. You must wear all equipment properly, you must have Kevlar helmet on your head, and you must carry your M16 rifle at the ready position.

Perform 12-mile tactical foot march - Army Study Guide"
But that's a "forced march" which I did at 18....

On the other hand at 40 it would have killed me...
