Our local paper printed a news item concerning Covid 19 testing now being available at one of our medical facilities.
FIRST Facebook comment: "Great! Good to finally have testing available!"
SECOND Facebook comment: "No! Only if you are sick. If have too many positives, governor will keep us shut down!"
Again, welcome to my world.

(38,419 posts)1....There were 4 leaders at the beginning of WWI who were sure the war would be over in a few months.
Names ?? not important???...somehow they were looking back at previous wars and not to the future.
2...Joseph Stalin...He cut deal with Hitler and was sure that Hitler would keep his word...So when his spies in Poland told him that the Germans were amassing troops along the Polish border for a Russian invasion, Stalin believed that Hitler would not break his word, and not invade. Therefore, although there could have been preparation there was none. Millions of lives were lost because of Stalin's stupidity
3. George Bush Jr. he was told ahead of time that there was a strong possibility of an attack on the
U.S. that was being planned, & and he told the person..(words to this effect) " You have given us a warning..
now go back where you came from" Not exact, but something like that.
4. Donald Trump Not exact...but "A few will die" and it will be all over in a few days or a week or so"
How about more stupidity in history & elsewhere...Thanks for the topic Atticus

(111,245 posts)but they're still being restricted to the symptomatic. I didn't bother trying, I wasn't that sick and I didn't feel like exposing somebody else on the way for a test, and they were in short supply in early March.
Our governor was under intense pressure to start reopening things like retail, 52 days of a total shutdown has a lot of people completely frazzled. So she issued an order for masking in public places.
Cases have leveled off here in the city, but continue to climb in semi rural counties to the west and northwest.
