But you should at least give it more than one episode to let the characters and settings gel
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it and the ending was really good
I must say that I really don't remember the specifics of the first episode ... I saw the first couple of seasons a few years ago at my daughter's house. I only recently got Netflix.

(15,805 posts)Didn't like the sad sack lead, he was so depressing he just dragged me down. I wanted to like the show, but the episodes seemed too formulaic and predictable. If I know in advance what's going to happen then there's no reason to watch the dang show.

(823 posts)Lou Diamond Phillips was excellent as was A. Martinez and Zahn McClarnon. The show was slow moving in general but that always felt intentional. But I totally understand not getting into the show...that was my reaction to Breaking Bad.

Hell on wheels was very good, certainly breath taking scenery, but....the last season they only showed 1/2 of the last cliff hanging episode, and made viewers wait a year to see the other half.
Pissed me off royally, I stopped watching.
Now other series are doing the same thing, including Better Call Saul.
On the plus side, the character development and acting are so good in Saul, Peaky Blinders, any of David Simon's series like the Wire, that re-watches are a pleasure.
