Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHow do I get e-bay to drop my e-mail address from someone else's account?
He is foxskip@gmail.com and I am fox.skip@gmail.com.
He is Skip Fox in Fort Atkinson, WI, and I am a retired professor in Sunset, Louisiana.
Every time I try to contact e-bay they want my account # &c, but I don't have one as far as I know. I might have contacted e-bay and given them some information when I was see that it was, but I never used their service.
Does anyone now how to get through to these people?

(11,860 posts)I have conducted a lot of business on eBay and they are very responsive when you do have an account. Perhaps you should create an account, get the service you desire and then delete your account. Even if you do not delete the account; they are not at all spammy and are very secure. Anyway, this is my 20yr experience on the site.
Good luck.

(19,357 posts)They don't seem to recognize the period in fox.skip and therefore allowed the other skip fox the same (in their eyes) e-mail address.

(62,444 posts)There are various dotted versions of my gmail address, and regularly get mail intended for other people.
What you might do is attempt a password reset on that account, log in, and close it out.

(11,915 posts)That would be pretty vindictive. The ebay seller is using their own email and has dome nothing wrong.

(62,444 posts)That other person is not able to use the account, because the emails are going somewhere else.
They need to use another email address.
Here is the Google support article on this issue:
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7436150?hl=en
But unfortunately, they dont make this clear to people who use dots in order to attempt to distguish from another gmail account. They set stuff up online, and then end up generating spam for the undotted email account.
Ive been dealing with this issue for years. It is a flaw in the gmail system.
Maintaining a security issue for someone else is not doing them any favors, and eliminating the issue is not vindictive.

(97 posts)I routinely get personal emails for for someone who isn't me, at one of my Gmail accounts. Like you, my email address has a stop in it - e.g., lily.bart@gmail.com (not my real addy, of course!), but I constantly receive messages intended for 'lilybart@gmail.com'; when I tried to alert Gmail to the issue, their response was that it was impossible that it was happening, the two addresses are completely different and would never be misdirected. I gave up on trying to do the right thing and just delete the messages... I've had the address since beta and I'm not about to change it.

(62,444 posts)Its a huge flaw in their system, and it generates inconsistent results.

(11,915 posts)Only that their email address just happens to be close to the OP's? Why should they have to change their email account?
Fla Dem
(23,656 posts)They have Skip Fox's email address on their account.
This is the subject line of the OP:
How do I get e-bay to drop my e-mail address from someone else's account?
So the other person has the wrong email address on their account. Only THEY can correct it.

Each person is using their own correct email accounts. Neither one is using the "wrong" email address.
The problem is that Google gmail doesn't recognize the dot between fox and skip, so it sends email where it shouldn't go.
