(30,733 posts)It seemed an unlikely subject for Annie Proulx. It was a very good book, and it was nice and fat. I like fat books.

(21,859 posts)It's 8 episodes so hoping they do do it justice.
I thought it was an unlikely channel for it to be on.

Missed the first 20 minutes of episode 1. Know anywhere we can catch it?

(24,726 posts)Thank you so much IcyPeas! If not for your tip, we would have missed it!
Every scene is riveting. I love the portrayal of indigenous people's is so much more complex than typical. Every character is so complex and compelling. The acting - Trapany? - is fabulous. I just close my eyes for the brutal graphic parts.
How are you liking it so far?

(21,859 posts)no! no! I don't want it to end. I am enjoying it. The only actors I am familiar with are David Thewlis (Claude Trepagny) and Marcia Gay Harden. The rest are new to me. What a character Trepagny is.
I get emails from National Geographic and one of them contained a preview of this or I wouldn't have known about it either. Annie Proulx is one of the producers too.
Here's a little video about the filming and production and set building of the show which was filmed in Quebec City. (No spoilers).
