Necco Wafers Are Coming Back This Summer After a 2-Year Hiatus

Necco Wafers first came out in 1847, making them one of the oldest candy brands in existence, according to the Spangler Candy Company. They were discontinued in 2018, but they just couldn’t stay away, because the candies are coming back this summer.

If you’re not familiar with the candy, they come in disk shapes and in an assortment of flavors. You might recognize their wax paper rolls packaging with “Necco” across them, which is an acronym for New England Confectionary Company, the original company that made them.

Necco is coming back in the eight all-time favorite flavors: lemon (yellow), lime (green), orange (orange), clove (light purple), cinnamon (white), wintergreen (pink), licorice (dark grey), and chocolate (brown). Seven of them were designed to identically match the originals. The chocolate ones have a richer cocoa flavor this time around due to a minor change in the cooking process.

But the yellow ones. I think I liked the licorice ones more than the chocolate ones.

Can’t wait to see them again.

There were just so many of them in a roll.
Oh, and I loved the chocolate-only ones too.

But I love licorice, esp the black kind, yum.

Different strokes and all that.

Fact they helped win Civil War, if by just a bit, adds to the pleasure.
