Necco Wafers first came out in 1847, making them one of the oldest candy brands in existence, according to the Spangler Candy Company. They were discontinued in 2018, but they just couldnt stay away, because the candies are coming back this summer.
If youre not familiar with the candy, they come in disk shapes and in an assortment of flavors. You might recognize their wax paper rolls packaging with Necco across them, which is an acronym for New England Confectionary Company, the original company that made them.
Necco is coming back in the eight all-time favorite flavors: lemon (yellow), lime (green), orange (orange), clove (light purple), cinnamon (white), wintergreen (pink), licorice (dark grey), and chocolate (brown). Seven of them were designed to identically match the originals. The chocolate ones have a richer cocoa flavor this time around due to a minor change in the cooking process.
