I'm officially an old fart.

I have an IPhone 6; my wife has an IPhone 10.

She left it at home, but called me from another phone because she needed something off her phone.

I go to get it, and the lack of a button completely threw me off. I somehow got stuck in phone mode and took about 10 videos trying to get myself back to the home screen, which I never managed to do. Although somehow I managed to dim the screen to half visibility.

Who knew the lack of a single button could throw you off so much?

Good lord, the entire ordeal just about gave me a heart attack. Last time I remember feeling that out of sorts was that one time I attempted to drive my parent’s stick shift.

In such a self deprecating manner but then read your full post. I see you have done something quite clever by comparing your trouble mastering new tech with your youthful inability to master the old tech of your parent generation.

Food for thought.

I have an IPhone 6 and when I first got it in Jan 2016, I could not find the home button for a very long time.
Could not figure out how to make a phone call .....It really took a long stressful time to figure it out.
I thought I would never leave the bar phones with the press buttons,

I finally caught on to it and have been successful with all of my electronics. I stick with the apple products because of the tech support.
Fast forward to now: The only reason I would think of another phone is my battery has to be replaced or something. It just cannot hold a charge for very long. It is very inconvenient when I travel (which I am homebound right now) or when I have forgotten to charge it. But after a full charge it exhausts rather quickly.

I had one put in about a year ago. I will check into it. In the meantime, I carry a portable recharge unit if I am out and about, which is rarely these days.

I really am not into the learning curve for a new phone right now. or expense.
so, yes, I have joined the old farts club.

And not only do I still drive a stick shift, I requested it when I ordered my last car (2013).

The metric I use with kids is that my first computer was a Commodore 64 and then I laugh when they ask how large the hard drive was.

Got an old used one from a dear friend after my beloved Nokia flip phones would no longer work on AT&T's network.

Now, I'm with Consumer Cellular for under $20/mo. and will never pay for any data plan.

I still regularly get pissed at it 'cause it does some damn silly thing every time I touch it.

Grrrrrrr........
