Florida Man charged with burning underwear at Starbucks

A 59-year-old homeless man faces arson charges after police say he lit his underwear on fire in the bathroom of a bustling Tennessee Street Starbucks.

Minutes after Randall Sullivan entered the bathroom Tuesday evening, employees noticed the smell of smoke wafting through the coffee shop.

A barista told Tallahassee Police she saw him enter the bathroom where he remained for a long time.

When she checked on him, he was leaving the bathroom. The employee found smoldering pair of underwear on the floor amidst the busy coffee shop. ............(more)

from Wikipedia regarding the "Florida Man" meme:

There has been backlash to the meme, with the Columbia Journalism Review calling it "one of journalism’s darkest and most lucrative cottage industries" where "stories tend to stand as exemplars of the mythical hyper-weirdness of the Sunshine State, but more often simply document the travails of the drug-addicted, mentally ill, and homeless."[

Conservatives don't want to pay for it. If they can't simply execute the mentally ill en masse, they'll leave 'em to die. They've always wanted people to die in the street.

(Some) liberals want treatment to be "voluntary," like this man who clearly can't take care of himself and poses a potential threat is some wild animal to be observed but not interfered with as it follows its bliss. They yell at society for not just giving him a mansion, then step over him as he lies unconscious in his own excrement.

Hard to decide which is worse.

We're yelling to give him a roof over his head, food to eat, and enough medication to keep him tethered to the planet.

Several years ago I was on the jury for a case that happened at that Starbucks. A young man bit the lip off a young woman. His claim was that he did it accidentally. The jury was like and we convicted him of assault and burglary (he entered her car without her permission.
