It's like a 24 hour truck stop around here

Seriously thirty three years either union Dock worker or line haul driver or city driver or jockey.I have been in a few truck stops. Wide awake 02:30 head downstairs plug in percolator. Our fifteen year old sons one friend is in kitchen heating up a Walmart pizza. Grab my coffee head out to the deck through living room.

Navigating around amp cords and guitar pedals. Stepping over a chocolate lab menace laying on his back. Morning man after a few wag wags I stopped to rub his stomach. Chocolate lab is hey man I’ll be out later we’re gonna have pizza.

I open up patio sliding door to go and sit with my coffee. And in comes our golden retriever and the Newfie out of the way man we smell pizza. Sitting on the back deck is our sixteen year old with his lap top. Playing hearts of iron it is a cool game where you can decide alternative history.

I get morning dad morning kiddo. I hear dad I have gotten France to surrender. Lite my pipe take a drink of coffee. Dad my peace agreement with Moscow is holding. I’m not sure if I should invade Spain or transport my armies East to invade Russia. I reply why don’t you give your armies a break and stay out of the East. His reply I need Russia’s resources oil mainly. What about Romania. I already own their oil wow decisions.

Cool thing is dad I have England blockaded with my navy.Czechoslovakia Hungary and Romania are sending me their citizens to train for Germany. And I now have mass production to mass produce heavy tanks troop carriers artillery and aircraft. So I’m definitely gonna need Russian resources to build my empire.

Patio door Open’s outcomes two teenagers a pizza and three dogs. I decline the offer of pizza I just need coffee they all eat dogs scored crust. Around 04:30 they’re like ok we’re going bed dogs included swine dining eat and go to sleep. oh dad can you make sure we’re up by 10 am. We’re gonna go to the quarry and swim absolutely I reply.

Occasionally, Say once or twice a month would be just about right.

If you are young and reading this with senior citizen parents and grandparents still alive go visit them bring their grandkids.

As each generation passes, we get farther and farther away from our parents and grandparents.

I was lucky from birth through HS graduation I had both sets of grandparents to grow up with.

Sadly that is not true for so many youngsters today.

IMO society is worse off today because we miss the opportunity to learn about who we are and how we got here.

To my parent's thanks for opening our home to all the kids that were my friends growing up. To mom, thanks for teaching me to sew still comes in handy today. To my dad as always thanks for teaching me to fish.

To my maternal grandparent's thanks for keeping our extended family whole and together. To grampa, I still let the saw do the work and I still use the entire handle on the hammer.

To my parental grandparent's thanks for teaching me about my English heritage. Beef and kidney pies, Lambs kidneys with bacon and eggs for breakfast. Lyle's Golden Syrup on crumpets. Sorry tea never made it to this generation.
