since the "exercise and fitness" section here on DU isn't very active...

(there's a pun in there somewhere) I'll ask here.

I want to buy a...... (yeah, I know).... a treadmill. Under $600.

Searching online is a nightmare because there are so many and so many opinions. I just want a simple, compact (apartment-sized) treadmill. don't need any bells and whistles. just something to Walk on (no jogging or running..... because... apartment).

anyone have recommendations for good brands in that price range?

Also noted when searching that a lot of treadmills seem to be sold out. I guess the quarantine maybe has something to do with this?

thank you from a very lazy Icypeas

p.s. It's too hot to walk outside.

We had one 10 years ago and the one thing I remember most was how darn heavy even a small one can be and the trouble I had getting it down in the lower level and setup.

They have to be heavy to support the weight of someone running on them. I don't really have any recs for current models.

Anyways, here is a good review article on what is out there right now (I am sure you have probably already seen this) in the less than 600 dollar price range. The number one pick they show seems like a good model but is right at the high end at 599. They have a good write up on all the models and offer some good advice.

is rated 69 in Consumer Reports for good budget folding treadmills. Looks like a possible option.

There are always a lot of people that have gotten tired of having treadmills/clothes hangers taking up space in their homes.

nextdoor, craigslist, etc.

They seem to be out of stock everywhere. I guess lots of people stuck at home decided to buy treadmills.
