a friend of mine was working as a night shift security guard, he was outside sneaking a smoke when he realized there were baby skunks milling around his feet - he said he was frozen to the spot and PRAYING his radio would not go off......eventually mama came over and decided that was nothing they should be around and she shooed them away

We just tried to bathe him in the kitchen sink. Now I smell like I got skunked.
Awful smell but 🦨 are so sweet!

They sell enzymatic shampoo at pet stores that works better than just about anything. It doesn’t completely remove the smell, but it makes it tolerable.

his son-in-law and I were all hanging out drinking his homemade wine and smoking weed he grew. I went out on the porch for something and there was a skunk right there! He forgot to tell me about her! Not de scented or anything either. She was pretty tame and got around my ankles but I didn't dare pet her.

This guy also fed a pack of stray cats and boy did they give the skunk a wide berth when she went for the food bowls. Bert the hermit guy said she would let out just a little warning "fart" if she felt threatened, but otherwise never smelled her.

I’ve had some close encounters with them many times. You don’t smell them unless they are spraying.

At least some skunks carry the skunk odor with them much of the time. Some years back, when I was living in Golden, CO, a skunk decided to live on my front porch for two days. Every so often I'd cautiously open the door to see if it was still there, and yep. Could definitely smell it. Eventually it went away.

Some time later someone else told me that the specific part of Golden we were in was also known as "Skunk Alley".

If they don't spray anything they remain odor free. Just last year we had a whole family of them living in the crawl space of one of our maintenance buildings where I work. They would come out in the evenings every night and we never smelled them at all. People walked right by them and they never bothered anyone. The company had animal control come out to remove them.

Growing up on a farm I would see them occassionally and they had no reservation about coming close. I never smelled skunk odor on any of them.
