Foster failure ... part Siamese, enough for her to be really vocal. She's about 3 months old. Tabby points. Very smart. I've met her and she already loves me. The feeling's mutual. We'd prefer an unusual but easy to pronounce name beginning with S.
This is your pet challenge for the day.
Edit:
Here are some pics.

We named her Sissi. Three of us had to agree. I loved all the suggestions! Thank you so much!

So I named her Stash.

Rorey
(8,445 posts)pronounced See-a
I'm afraid I'm not usually very creative when it comes to names of pets. I started calling my tortie "Speckles" when she showed up. She promptly had three kittens on my back porch. I had no intention of keeping them, so I just referred to them by what they looked like. Calico got shorted to "Callie" (but she's really a dilute tortie) and then there's DarkGray and LightGray. Because they couldn't be tamed, I ended up keeping them, and their names are still their description.
AirmensMom
(14,642 posts)from Grey's Anatomy is actually short for Calliope. Love that name! I have a dilute tortie too. She was my brother's and lived on a sailboat until he died. She came with her name, Kyra. I rescued her when my brother got sick, but she favors my husband. Go figure.
Rorey
(8,445 posts)I'm so sorry about your brother. Was it difficult for Kyra to adjust to dry land?
My Callie is pretty feral. Her mom, Speckles, hid the kittens when they were a week old, and didn't bring them back around until they were two months old. I had to trap them to get them spayed/neutered. I kept them in my office for a whole month, and went in and hung out and played with them for hours every day, but they have never warmed up to the point where they can be petted. I still enjoy their company. Speckles is very tame and sweet.
They've all been having somewhat of an attitude for the last few days because I've had to lock their main entrance into the house at night in order to keep out raccoons. I went to great trouble and a bit of expense to create what I hope is a raccoon-proof entrance through my garage window. I know that three of the four cats have figured it out. I'm just not sure about DarkGray. but it's summer so if she has to stay outside all night, she'll be okay.
The first night I started locking their main entrance, I waited until they were all in the house. I think they're afraid they're going to be trapped in the house because they are nowhere to be seen when I lock up. When I wake up in the morning, Speckles is always in.
I sure hope those raccoons stop hanging around here. I pull in every bit of cat food before dark, so hopefully they'll find a better place to go soon. I was pretty freaked out when I discovered that one had come in during the night. I'm not a fan of raccoons. For two years none came in the cat doors, and then one of them finally figured it out.
AirmensMom
(14,642 posts)Kyra only missed her dad. She had lived on dry land before he bought his sailboat. She is very adaptable. She traveled on the plane with me after spending 2 weeks at a vet for boarding while he was in the hospital. She never said a word and required no sedation. But then she wouldn't eat once I got her home. Then she got very sick. Turns out that she had a bad allergy, probably from hiding under the boat's refrigerator (mold!) after he collapsed and before I got to her. Her breathing was pretty rough. Once that was taken care of, she was fine. That was 11 years ago and she's still going strong. We think she's about 17 years old. Definitely not older than 18. She is definitely a daddy' girl. She sleeps under my husband's arm and wakes up smelling like his deodorant.
That is some stressful stuff you have with the cats and raccoons. I'm glad you're bringing in the cat food. Raccoons love that stuff. I hope DarkGray comes in at night eventually. And I'm glad you're providing a safe place for them.
Rorey
(8,445 posts)Poor Kyra for having to go through so much, but she was so lucky to have you!
I'm sure DarkGray will have it figured out soon. The four of them are together a lot, so surely she's seen the rest go in. During the winter they spend most of their time inside. One good thing is that I hardly ever have to clean a litter box because they prefer to go outside, no matter what time of year.

Since she is a Siamese, a name that means "light" seems appropriate for her.
