testicles are gone. They may or may not shrink over time. I adopted a male who was 4 yrs old at time of neutering and had the same question for my vet!

looking like he still had all his parts. I asked one of the volunteers about it and she said that the way they neuter them now leaves them looking pretty much the same if they were already full-grown.
