I love this photo and I could kick myself that I cut off the ears in this picture. He was about 12 in this pic.
I still miss him.
King Tut is gorgeous. beautiful marbled swirly coat. classic tabby I would say, right?
lunatica
(53,410 posts)He has a wide dark line running down his back with the markings on his sides. Both sides are identical. And the he has the amber and gray peaking through. All slick and shiny because he allows me to brush him every day.

(115,270 posts)when she recovers from the sedative she got at the vet so they could shave her. She has long, very fine, soft fur that mats extremely easily, and she hates being groomed. I mean she really, really hates it. If she sees me approaching with a comb or a brush she runs off; if I catch her and try to groom her she turns into a hairy chainsaw. I think this attitude is the result of an unpleasant experience she had with a groomer - not that the groomer did anything wrong, but Pixie just doesn't like strangers or being messed with. But ever since, she's hated brushes and combs.
So anyhow, over the winter she developed some mats that I couldn't do anything about, and realized that she'd have to go to a vet because she'd have to be sedated. I made an appointment for mid-March but because of the lockdown the vet wasn't taking appointments for pets that weren't actually sick. Finally, though, today she got her haircut. She did not want to go to the vet, though; I had to wear elbow-length leather rose gloves to protect my hide while I got her into the carrier.
But, we made it. Now she's buck naked except for her head, her limbs below the elbows and knees, and a lion-like tuft on her tail. I thought she'd look kind of rat-like and pathetic but she doesn't; I think she's cute, and she feels like warm suede. I also discovered that under the fur she's a bit chubby. She's still a little discombobulated from the sedative, but when she's back to herself I'll try to get a photo to post.

(53,410 posts)The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,270 posts)She's not very happy about it. The vet said that for some cats it could take as much as 48 hours for the sedative to wear off completely, and she still seems a bit uncoordinated though she's better than yesterday. Also, I think she feels kind of weird, though I told her I think she's cute. Right now she's hiding inside her cat tree. I hope she's back to herself tomorrow.

(17,077 posts)Cleopatra Marie, my Catahoula, is getting on now at 13. My cat, Kokopelli, is three, and has CH, aka wobbly cat syndrome. Her cerebellum wasn't fully developed, and she has no sense of balance. Other than that, she should have a normal life.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,270 posts)They have a webcam that's fun to watch. Not all of them have CH but there are a bunch, and it's interesting to watch how they gradually get stronger and are able to get around better.

iscooterliberally
(2,849 posts)He's waiting for a treat in this shot. He doesn't play much anymore because it is really hard for him to keep on his feet. We like to go for walks in the morning before it gets too hot. Sometimes his kitties follow along too. We don't normally go to far as he gets tired and I don't want to have to carry him back home. He's still over 60 pounds. Thank you for the compliments.

(53,410 posts)Have you ever given him Glucosamine? It makes a huge difference in the quality of life for dogs. They act and feel like theyre years younger.
https://www.google.com/search?q=glucosamine+for+dogs&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
iscooterliberally
(2,849 posts)He gets Duralactin and a joint enhancer that has glucosamine in it. I crush it up and mix it into the gravy in his food. I also keep carprofen handy. I think it's like Advil for dogs. I don't give him that too much because he gets agitated on it. He's just way older than I thought he would ever get. He was a strong positive for heartworm when we adopted him. He's also had a large tumor that had to be removed a couple of years ago. He likes getting out and meeting other dogs. We used to have 3 including him, but the other two passed away from bone cancer. They were larger than he ever was.
Here's Nikki on the left, Samson of course in the middle, and Eightball is on the right. They used to have great fun at the dog park and all 3 loved the snow up in New England too.
